We had snow this past week north of Toronto, and I was so afraid that fall was coming to a close and winter was going to blow in and ruin my favourite season! I love the crisp mornings of fall and the beautiful leaves, and I love getting to pull out all of my favourite layering pieces. Layer, layer, layer, that’s my motto!
I would have titled this OOTD, but this is the basic outfit that I wear for most of the autumn season, of course with small changes, sometimes I wear blue jeans instead of black! I am loving these jeans from Guess, their high waisted 1981 jeans, I have them in both blue and black, and they are perfect. I am not sure why high waisted jeans were ever out of vogue for the hip lady folk, but they are absolutely wonderful for playing up a woman’s natural beautiful curves; or giving the illusion of curves for those ladies like my self who are lacking in the hip department (my shape is reminiscent of a tube with boobs). I found these jeans at Winners for a steal, but the Guess site seems to have frequent sales. I have been eyeing this pair; I like the detail of the buttons up the front. Guess jeans also seem to be of a decent quality, I hate it when you spend good money on a pair of jeans that don’t last more than a year.
I live in this jacket and vest from lamixx all through the fall, they are the perfect layering pieces. I always wear the vest under the jacket for a bit of pattern interest, and extra warmth. I bought the jacket back in 2013 but I have been buying lamixx clothing since 2011. Jacquelin designs and makes the best basic pieces, and they are staples in my wardrobe! Her designs are minimalist and great for layering. She was also kind enough to pass on a coupon code NEW10 which you can use for 10% off your purchase from her Etsy store! Go check out her shop and support hand made!
I will be writing a post shortly about my love of hats, and why I think everyone should be wearing them, so I won’t say too much about this topper, but it was a vintage find on Etsy and I love it. I added the feathers my self for a slightly feminine touch.
I would also like to mention the watch that I am wearing, which is from fossil. I spent a long time looking for a watch before I settled on this one. I wanted a watch that was a statement piece, but was still practical for every day, and that I could dress up or down. It also had to be quality, and I love that this one is self winding. The gears can all be seen through the watch face, and it looks really cool and just a little steam punk. Steam punk is still cool right?!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween and remember ladies, layer, layer, layer, it’s getting chilly out there!
What’s your favourite layering piece? Let me know in the comments!
